Our goal is to provide an exceptional personal service while maintaining a structured and professional business. An appreciation and love for dance is encouraged in all students whether they are taking classes to sharpen skills, for pursuing dance on a competitive level, or merely to have fun! The curriculum at GTP focuses on proper technique and execution of dance skills, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
Mrs. Aleena Piner

"My dream has always been to own my own dance studio, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to run Get The Pointe Dance Studio. My goal is to make every student feel welcomed and comfortable in our space. While taking a hands on approach to build and grow each dancers knowledge and skill level. Ms. Aleena Piner started dancing at the age of seven. Training in several different genres of dance. She received her dance education from Dance Theatre of New Bern for eleven years. Five of those years she danced on an award winning competition team. After graduating from West Craven High School Ms. Aleena continued her education at Craven Community College. She graduated in 2016 with an associates in Business Administration. While in college she was an instructor at Dance Theatre of New Bern. Ms. Aleena has experience teaching several styles of dance including: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, Acro, and Musical Theatre. Throughout her five year teaching career, she has choreographed many group dances, productions, solos, duets, and trios. Ms. Aleena is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance with every new and returning student at Get The Pointe.

Ms. Alison Bird
Studio Assistant & Instructor Alison Bird started her dance career at the young age of three. Her dance education ranges from competitive dance studios during her K-12 years to graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Communication: Journalism at Appalachian State University to entering the professional world of dance. She continued her dance education to receive a Master of Arts in Dance Anthropology at the University of Roehampton, London. Her research focuses on accessing the body as an archive and the embodied knowledge held within using somatic practices. She also has a Master of Science in Higher Education with a specialty in Teaching and Learning. In addition to teaching at GTP, Ms. Ali is an English teacher at New Bern High School and the Color/Winter Guard Instructor. She is trained in multiple styles: Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, West African, Tap, Jazz, Jazz Funk, Acro, and Hip Hop. She is also a somatic practitioner and a third-generation Classical/Authentic Pilates instructor. Ms. Ali lived in Europe for a few years where she danced professionally and taught various workshops with different organizations. Some of her notable works include the Equity Chant with the Combination Dance Company which was performed in front of the British Parliament in 2019. She believes in and encourages her students to explore their creativity in different ways alongside their movement practice. |
Ms. Rebecca Gover

Rebecca is a New Bern native. She has had a love of dance since the age of four. Throughout the years she danced as a part of a competition team, choreographed local musicals, was a member of Meredith College’s Jazz & Tap Company, and has had the pleasure of teaching dance to students over the past six years. Her favorite style of dance is contemporary. She emphasizes the importance of good technique in every class while maintaining a nurturing, welcoming environment. Along with a love of dance, Rebecca has a love of learning. She is currently enrolled in a program through Liberty University to receive a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is so excited to share her passion, excitement, and love of dance with the students of Get The Pointe.

Tiffany Gaskins has been dancing for 17 years. She started dance at the age of two and was on a competitive team for six years. Tiffany is also a New Bern native, and she was a part of the National Honors Society at Arapahoe Charter School. Tiffany went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for an elementary education degree and a minor in dance. She has since transferred to Western Governor’s University to finish her degrees online. Tiffany has lots of experience with kids, from assisting and subbing for dance classes to being an assistant teacher in a two-year-old classroom at Temple Preschool. Her favorite style of dance is contemporary, but she also has had experience in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern, Ballroom, and Pointe. She is very excited to share her love and passion for dance at GTP.

Ms. Grace Coombs

Grace Coombs has been dancing for 17 years. She started at the age of 4, and danced competitively for 6 years. Grace is a Vanceboro native, and graduated with honors from West Craven High School in 2021. She just recently graduated in May from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelors degree in English. Grace’s favorite styles are hip hop and ballet, but she also has experience in jazz, contemporary, tap, Acro, lyrical, modern, ballroom, pointe, and African dance. |
