Our goal is to provide an exceptional personal service while maintaining a structured and professional business. An appreciation and love for dance is encouraged in all students whether they are taking classes to sharpen skills, for pursuing dance on a competitive level, or merely to have fun! The curriculum at GTP focuses on proper technique and execution of dance skills, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Our instructors are licensed with Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in dance education, and have attained their North Carolina Teaching License K-12. They annually attend Teacher Conferences and Dance Conventions to offer the highest quality dance training in a positive, family-friendly environment.
Mrs. Annabeth Lee
Owner & Director 'I just want kids to have fun dancing and creating memories they can cherish for a lifetime! It's my goal to make all families feel welcome and 'at home' when you visit our studio. Once you're my student, you will forever be my 'dance child' and part of our GTP Dance Studio Family!' -Mrs. AB Annabeth Brown Lee is the Owner Get the Pointe Dance Studio (2008-present). As a leader at GTP, united with instructors, students, and families, she strives to challenge, inspire, and prepare individuals to achieve their dreams through a foundation of dance knowledge, style, and technique. Annabeth began dancing at the age of three, taking a variety of classes throughout grade school, high school, and college. She studied at several local studios including Dance Theatre of Jacksonville, Wanda Kay’s School of Dance, Down East Dance, Dance Theatre of New Bern and Get The Pointe Dance Studio. In 2004, she graduated from New Bern High School, and continued her education at East Carolina University. There, she was an active member of ECDA and, in 2008, was an honor graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education and Teacher’s Certification for K-12 in North Carolina. She annually attends dance conventions, master classes, and training sessions to provide exceptional instruction for her staff and students. Annabeth looks forward to many successful years at GTP as she continues to share a love for teaching and passion for dance with her students and their families. |
Mrs. Tiffany Conway
Assistant Director & Instructor Tiffany Conway grew up in New Bern, NC and is respected in the community as a positive role model and leader for her students at GTP, H.J. MacDonald Middle School and New Bern High. While attending West Craven High School, she participated in Colorguard and Winterguard, contributing to her team and winning several awards. She then attended East Carolina University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education and Teacher's Certification for K-12 in North Carolina. After graduating college, she extended her education in New York City, attending classes in Contemporary Dance at the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Since 2009, she has grown as an instructor, teaching at several local dance studios and currently at GTP. She also teaches at H.J. MacDonald Middle School and coaches the War Cub Dance Team. In 2019, Tiffany was selected as the New Bern High School Drill Team Head Coach, further showing her commitment to dance in Craven County. She is eager to continue her career in dance education and is excited to share her knowledge and passion with GTP students. |
Ms. Aleena Piner
Production Manager & Instructor Ms. Aleena Piner started dancing at the age of seven. Training in several different genres of dance. She received her dance education from Dance Theatre of New Bern for eleven years. Five of those years she danced on an award winning competition team. After graduating from West Craven High School Ms. Aleena continued her education at Craven Community College. She graduated in 2016 with an associates in Business Administration. While in college she was an instructor at Dance Theatre of New Bern. Ms. Aleena has experience teaching several styles of dance including: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, Acro, and Musical Theatre. Throughout her five year teaching career, she has choreographed many group dances, productions, solos, duets, and trios. Ms. Aleena is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance with every new and returning student at Get The Pointe. |
Ms. Katie Lewis
Studio Assistant & Instructor Ms. Katie started dancing at Get the Pointe Dance Studio when she was four years old. She trained in several different genres of dance including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, and Contemporary (Tap is her FAVORITE!). She danced at Get the Pointe her entire dance career and was on the competition team for 3 years. She was a devoted member of New Bern High School Drill Team her junior and senior years of high school. After high school she went to Craven Community College and earned her Associates in Science, then went on to become a Certified Surgical Technologist. During Surgical Technology School, she took a year off from teaching, at the studio. She realized she missed dancing and came back to join GTP Staff last year, in 2019. Ms. Katie is so happy to be back and can not wait for a fabulous season! |
Ms. Alison Bird
Studio Assistant & Instructor Alison Bird started her dance career at the young age of three. She is trained in multiple styles: Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, West African, Tap, Jazz, Jazz Funk, Acro, and Hip Hop. She is also a somatic practitioner and a third generation Classical/Authentic Pilates instructor. Ms. Alison grew up in Havelock NC for a majority of her life and has recently returned from London, England. During her youth, she received her dance education from a few studios in Havelock and Newport. While attending Havelock High School, she participated in Color Guard and Winter Guard where she continues to volunteer and choreograph for her alma mater's team. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Communication-Journalism at Appalachian State University. She continued her dance education with a Master of Arts in Dance Anthropology at the University of Roehampton, London. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Higher Education with an Emphasis on Teaching and Learning. During her time in England, Ms. Alison danced professionally with different companies and projects. She performs, teaches, choreographs, and dabbles in dance photography and videography. She believes and encourages her students to explore their creativity in different ways alongside their movement practice. Ms. Alison is excited to join GTP Staff and to share her passion and knowledge for dance with GTP students. |
